virtual prototyping.
Besides following an analytical approach, we simulate fluid-flow phenomena with the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses and lumped-element modelling. Employing these analyses, we can make a virtual prototype of the customer’s design and simulate the fluid-flow behavior in or around it. In a 3D model we can visualize, for example, the pressure, temperature and velocity fields at any location, including those locations where the experimental measurement of temperature or pressure is challenging. Such visualizations serve to aid the understanding of a product’s performance. Digitally, we can quickly make changes in the model and instantaneously evaluate their effect on the performance of the physical model, which can save precious development time. Simulations are extremely useful to find any flaws or discrepancies in an early design stage, preventing costly design modifications in later stages.
